Refunds
Refunds, if applicable, are issued by the Accounting Department within 30 days of official withdrawal. A withdrawal is official once the student receives written confirmation and a final statement. All outstanding balances must be paid in full before transcripts are released.
Re-enrollment
After withdrawal, students must re-enroll under a new enrollment agreement and are subject to current tuition rates, fees, and program requirements.
California - student tuition recovery fund (STRF)
The State of California established the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) to relieve or mitigate economic loss suffered by a student who is or was a California resident while enrolled, or who was enrolled in a residency program, prepaid tuition, and suffered an economic loss.
Unless exempt, California residents or students enrolled in residency programs who prepay tuition must pay the STRF assessment. Students who are not California residents and not enrolled in residency programs are not eligible for STRF protection and are not required to pay the assessment.
To be eligible for STRF reimbursement, a student must meet all of the following conditions:
- Be a California resident or enrolled in a residency program
- Have prepaid tuition
- Have paid or been deemed to have paid the STRF assessment
- Have suffered an economic loss resulting from one of the qualifying events listed below
Qualifying events include, but are not limited to:
- Institutional or program closure without completion of an approved teach-out
- Enrollment within 120 days prior to closure or program discontinuation
- Significant decline in program quality as determined by the Bureau
- Failure of the institution to pay a required refund
- Failure to reimburse federal student loan proceeds
- Uncollected restitution or court-awarded refunds
- Legal cancellation of student loans with documented legal costs
STRF applications must be submitted within four (4) years of the qualifying event unless extended by law. No STRF claim may be paid without a valid Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.
